QUIZ on F 11/3

AP United States History (Oct 30 – Nov 3)

There will be an assessment late this week (Thursday/Friday TBD) that will cover the following issues

  1. The Articles of Confederation: Their general structure and why they failed as a blueprint for government. A discussion of Shay’s Rebellion will be a useful support for the argument about the failure of the Articles of Confederation.
  2. The various compromises that were necessary to achieve ratification of the United States Constitution. Specifically . . .
    • The three-fifths compromise and why it occurred.
    • The “Great Compromise” that enabled states with small population and states with large populations to endorse the Constitution.
    • The compromise that was struck to bring the Federalists and the anti-Federalists together.
  3. Some of the issues facing the Washington administration. Focus on the creation of the cabinet, the role that Alexander Hamilton played in putting the United States of sound fiscal footing, and the example of the Whiskey Rebellion as evidence that the United States Constitution had fixed a key problem that existed in the Articles of Confederation.
  4. How the debate over the creation of a national bank is an early example of two conflicting philosophies about how the United States Constitution ought to be interpreted (strict constructionism versus loose interpretation).
  5. The “Indian policy” of the early United States and how that stated policy matched up (or didn’t) to the behavior of the American people at that time.
