World Literature / AP Literature and Composition – January 2th – February 2nd

World Literature. This week we will continue to read Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. At this point, Victor has created his monster and we will be discussing the relationship that our creator, Victor, has with his creation, the monster. We will discuss the ethics and morality of creating a “human” type creature in relation to the text. Students will have an exam on chapters 3-8 on Thursday, February 1.

AP Literature and Composition. This is our last week reading Hamlet by Shakespeare. This week, we will focus on the poetic device iambic pentameter, the theme of revenge, the literary tool deus ex machina and the language of flowers, which was common in the time of Shakespeare.

World Literature / AP Literature and Composition – January 22nd – 26th

World Literature. This week we will continue to read Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. We will take a deeper look at the protagonist, Victor Frankenstein, and discuss foreshadowing and the theme of relationships. Finally, the question of creating life becomes present in our novel. This will be a major discussion point this week.

Take note, Friday is a half-day, following the AM Schedule. We do not have class this Friday.
