United States History – November 5 through November 9

We will have an assessment on Tuesday, November 6 which will cover the Constitution and issues facing the first two administrations (Washington, Adams). This examination will run through the ascendancy of Thomas Jefferson to the presidency and the case of Marbury v Madison.

The next unit will focus on the “Virginia Dynasty” of Jefferson, Madison, and Monroe. The Louisiana Purchase and the War of 1812? Sounds fun to me!

British Literature / Communications – November 5th – 9th

British Literature. This week in British Literature, we will be diving back into the novel The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien. We will focus on major themes, character development and imagery.

There is an exam on chapters 1-4 on Friday, November 9th

Communications. This week in Communications we will begin looking closely at Journalism. Students will be learning about the history of journalism as well as the basics associated with the craft. Students will have an exam on Thursday, which will cover the fundamentals covered this week.

Lunes 5: Introducción a la Sátira filosófica “Hombres necios” de sor Juana Inés de la Cruz. Lectura del poema.

martes 6: Análisis del poema, comentaremos las preguntas y las estrofas del poema, seguidamente trabajarán en la guía de estudio de la sátira filosófica.

TAREA: guía de estudio para el miércoles.

miércoles 7:  Comentaremos la guía de estudio y después trabajarán en el cuestionario de la sátira filosófica.

jueves 8: Examen de la sátira filosófica. Se publicara la tesis de ensayo la cual deberá ser presentada el viernes 9.  Introducción a la obra “Burlador de Sevilla” empezaremos a leer acto I.

viernes 9:  Seguiremos leyendo acto I y contestarán la guía de estudio. Entrega de la tesis de la sátira filosófica de Sor Juana. 

viernes 9: TAREA: lectura y análisis del acto II.
